Track Work

From the Herberton Station, at an altitude of 1000 metres, the track follows the picturesque Wild River to the platform at Historic Village Herberton.  From there it travels through open forest dominated by stunning eucalypts and unique flora which creates a home for a vast number of bird species.

The top of the Herberton Range affords the traveller a magnificent view of the Atherton Tablelands some 200 metres below.  They are able to experience travelling through the highest tunnel built in Queensland to Carrington Falls which, for most people, can only be seen from afar.  A stunning array of bird life and wild flowers can be seen here.

The end of the line is at Platypus Park Station in Atherton where there is a café, children’s playground and a bush walk through a patch of rainforest.
